The Laryngitis

Hey so I've been a little sick for about a week and a half. It all started last Thursday (12/4)... I started to feel a cold coming on. I had a fever ... coughing... runny nose ... chills. You know... I went to work and pretended I was fine (of course). Sunday rolled around and I had lost my voice... I went to work anyway and talked for 8 hours to customers about TVs. Monday I decided to stay home because I couldn't even get anything out... Just barely enough to call and say I couldn't talk. I went to work Tuesday even though I still couldn't talk. Tuesday night I couldn't take the pain anymore so Eric and I made a trip to urgent care. The doctor said I had Laryngitis, gave me some antibiotics and tylenol with codeine, and sent me on my way. I called work and told them I needed a day off since the doctor told me to stay home. I had 3 days off in a row. All I did was sleep and watch the Simpsons, it was magical... Then it was back to work on Saturday. Loads of fun... I can talk now, but still feel sick... At least I have tomorrow off... maybe I will get better soon...

The Work!!

Well, I'm now 3 days into my 8 day streak of working. It is so fun to not have a day off for a little over a week... Right?? I think the best part is that we close at 10 so I'm usually there till around 11-11:30 or later. The next day I usually get to open, so I have to be back at 8. I love the 5 hours of sleep, not being able to see my husband for more than 5 minutes in the morning or when he gets home. I also love that I've been sick for the past 3 days, yet I go to work anyway. I don't think I can even talk very well today... Well, I wouldn't know because Eric is already gone and I have no one to talk to until I go into work. I spend more time with people I could care less about than I do with the love of my life. I hate the holidays, just because of work. I love the family part.
Well, on a happier note, we have done some decorating. Eric and I saw a cool thing at Ikea and decided to replicate it. Silver sand, small ornaments, and a candle in a vase. It looks pretty neat! My mom also got us a really cute candle holder, and we bought a couple of things at Target. I love that place!! We bought our tree and got it about 80% decorated. I'm sure the next time Eric and I are home together we will put the ornaments on... If we're home together before christmas. We also bought some year-round decorations. We found a neat giant spoon, fork, and knife at Hobby Lobby that we are going to put up in the kitchen. We also got a couple of lighthouses and a ship steering wheel for our chest in the entry way. Soon enough our home will have a lot of cool little decorations.
We also go our TV calibrated on Wednesday! I know, I'm a loser... But it was worth it!! I love how much better the picture looks. I never realized how blue my screen was until I got it fixed. I'll show you sometime if you come over... It looks neat!!
Well, I'm going to try and enjoy the next few hours until I have to leave for day 4 of 8! My day off is soon approaching! I'm free Thursday and Friday if anyone wants to do anything... Yippee!!

The String Quartets

Okay, I am officially obsessed with string quartet tributes! I've spent a good part of the morning trying to decide which ones I want to buy on iTunes with my $25 gift card.... it is soooo hard to narrow it down...

On a side note, yesterday at our morning meeting i got bit by a bug on two fingers... my index finger is sooo freakin swollen on my right hand i can barely bend it enough to type... it is driving me crazy.

iTunes gift cards... I love them!!!

The Liquidation

In case you haven't heard, Circuit City announced on Monday that they are closing 155 of their stores nation wide! Of course, we heard about it on Sunday, and have been preparing for it for the past couple of weeks. Some people may be disappointed that their only option for a decent electronics retailer is now Best Buy, but I'm pretty excited. I feel awful for all of the people that are losing their jobs (thousands of CC employees), but can't help but feel a little relief. The economy is rough right now, and Best Buy is still thriving! I am so glad that I work for a company that values its employees and customers so much. I don't expect we will gain a ton of CC's customer base, since there really isn't much of one anymore. I'm optimistic that we will see maybe a good 10% of their customers shopping with us now. It's rough, those people chose CC over Best Buy for a reason, and now we have the task of winning them back. Best Buy certainly has a stable foundation, and great corporate leadership holding us together. I have had so many great experiences in my three years as a Blue Shirt. Recently, I have been able to meet several corporate executives, and network with leaders throughout the company. Although Best Buy might not be my career, or something I plan to still be doing once I finish school, it is definitely where I want to be until I am ready to go out into the real world. I love my Best Buy bubble! We're one big family, and that's not something you can easily find.

End Rant.

The Pink Shirt

For the month of October, Best Buy got pink shirts made. They have one of the pink ribbons surrounding the Best Buy logo. They are AMAZING!! I love my pink shirt!! So many people said I looked good in it hehe. I love Breast Cancer!! Well, not really, but I love the month of October because everything gets to be pink and it's okay :) Even the guys will be wearing the pink shirts. So, go into a Best Buy for this next week and see all of us blue shirts wearing pink ones instead!

On a side note, Eric and I have friends! Kathy and Skyler will be coming over to our humble abode on Monday night. We're making crab cakes (yummy) with spinach and tomatoes (also yummy) and a delicious mustard sauce. For dessert we will have this strawberry/oreo thing that was in the summer edition of the Kraft Food and Family magazine. So good!! We went to the store to get everything today. It is going to be amazing!! I have to clean the house though... I better do that now!

The Gadgets

Eric and I are all about gadgets. We got a PS3 the other day. I must say, HD Gaming is pretty amazing. Resistance makes me nauseous sometimes because it's too realistic. I love it though. Everyone should have one... even though they cost an arm and a foot. Oh plus I got Grey's anatomy season 4 on blu-ray for letting him get a ps3. Well worth it. It looks AMAZING! Plus the bonus features are pretty rad on it also. I love life!

The Promotion.

It has finally happened... I got a promotion! I found out on Tuesday that I am the new Home Theater Senior. It's not a supervisor position, but it's a step in the right direction. I get a raise and everything... haha. It's not as much as I wanted, but my review is in two months.

Other than that, life is pretty boring. I don't do anything.

I golfed on Monday with my buddy Dan Arcuri. We tied... 107 on a par 61. I'm getting better though, I suppose. He's been playing much longer than I have, so that makes me feel better about how bad I play.

I love my giant TV.

A Big TV

Hey! We bought a new TV! It's big... for our space at least. 52" Sony XBR4... it's beautiful! 120hz is such a weird thing to watch... it looks like you're there!! It's amazing!! Who wants to come to movie night?!

Golf and Baseball

Well, as you can probably tell, my life is not all that exciting. I don't have much to share... But, Friday was pretty eventful! We woke up at 7:30am on Friday morning and got ready to go to Springfield Golf Course for our 9am tee time. We got there at 8:20ish and got a few balls to hit on the driving range to warm up, not that it helped me much. We started our game a little early, but I probably would have died of heat stroke if we didn't. It was a short course, and I hit my ball in the water twice on one hole. Other than that, I did alright for my first time on a real course. Par for the course was 60, and I got 118. Wow... I'm fantastic! Haha. I got par on one hole... and a bogie on a couple. Overall it was a pretty good experience. There were a couple of old ladies behind us that were definitely country club ladies because they were all gossipy and well... you know.

After golf we went to Fridays for lunch, and then back home to watch some Planet Earth/take a nap. Then, we showered and got ready for the Baseball game. We had pretty awesome seats... Luckily they were free because they were definitely $50 tickets. The first few innings were exciting, but then we left in the middle of the 6th because we were a little tired from our long day.

And that's an exciting day in the life of me.

Driving Miss Daisy

Today was by far the best day I have had in a long time! Not only was it the first of three days off in a row, but I got to spend it with my mom!! We went SHOPPING!! I haven't been shopping like that in a while. I really had no purpose, but I can't say no to spending money. Muahaha!!

This week there have been a couple of purchases. On Wednesday I bought my first set of golf clubs! Then, I needed a golf bag (of course), and then to top it off, every golfer needs an outfit! I got the most comfortable under armor golf clothes. AND, my bag is pink!! Haha, very girly don't you think? I like it though.

Today was a different shopping adventure. First, we went to Chandler mall. I got a pair of shorts and some board shorts. Pac Sun was having a 50% off sale, so I got both for the price of one! Mom paid for a pair for my birthday :) She got a couple of things from Yankee Candle, cute things!! I love that place. After that, it was off to IKEA!! I got a new set of sheets and a duvet cover set. Ikea finally got smart and put buttons on their duvet covers. It looks pretty amazing!

Of course I couldn't go on a shopping adventure without getting something for my better half :) Luckily, there is a Dick's Sporting Goods in the Ikea parking lot. I got Eric a new golf outfit (now he has three! Go GOLF!!). We just love golfing! Someday, we will be rich and able to join a club... haha.

Overall, it was a pretty action packed day! I may have to run to the store and get some fabric softener so I can finish doing the laundry. Exciting huh?? Thank goodness for Wal Mart being 24 Hours, and 1/4 of a mile away from the house.

Do you have any ideas for the next 2 days I have off?!

Dr. Illbit

We changed the movie last minute last night and ended up watching Drillbit Taylor. I find myself smiling a lot when I watch movies. I probably look like a big idiot! Hah. I definitely feel less depressed about my life now that I see people who are older and yet act so much younger. Sometimes it's fun to be stupid, but these people don't have to do it on purpose. It just comes naturally... They don't have to force themselves to act like they're still in high school. It's very sad! I'd still like to make more of my life, but at least I know I'm farther ahead than most people my age. Go me. Hah...

I also bought The Picture of Dorian Gray last night, I'm excited to read it. The cashier at Borders was weird but he said it was an amazing book. I would hope so, it is Oscar Wilde.

I get to watch the little bugger today! He's been getting better lately. He doesn't hate me as much now that I've been there with him so much. He's getting SO big!! I love watching him grow up. Hopefully he'll start talking and moving around more soon enough.

Sundays are Fun-Days

Today is Sunday. So far I've cleaned my office and sat on my rear end. It's been pretty fun. I am supposed to clean the rest of the house.

I had a customer yesterday find it interesting that someone my age is so conservative. Apparently, if you're in college, you're supposed to be pretty liberal. He then asked if I was going to school for Political Science... I thought he was crazy... But now I'm considering getting my degree in Political Science... It shouldn't be too bad. I'll have to figure that out.

I've been pretty depressed lately because I feel like I've wasted the last 2 years of my life. I haven't done anything productive with my life. I've worked at the same job for almost 3 year and the best I can do is be a full time sales associate. Of course I'm "next in line" to be promoted but by now all the positions are filled and I'm sure no one is leaving any time soon. I'd like to go to school and get a degree and do something real with my life. In another 3 years I could be looking for a real time job... Who knows. We'll see what happens.

Life is pretty good other than that. Tonight is movie night at work. We were going to watch Over the Top but I think we may change it last minute. Depressing huh??

I guess it's time to conform...

Alright, Jessi told me that I better start updating this thing so that's what I'm going to do. There's not a whole lot of news on our front here, but I'll see if I can't make anything up.

Eric and I finally had a friend get married so we have someone to do married people things with. Sounds exciting; doesn't it? Kathy and Skyler Hathcock got married June 6 and we took a ton of pictures at the reception for them. I think their photographer hated us... Oh well!

I have finally purchased a new car. And when I say new, I mean it had 13 miles on it when I signed the paperwork. It's pretty much the most amazing thing in the world! We got an awesome deal on it and the payments are pretty low. It's an 08 Nissan Versa SL Sedan. It has all kinds of fun features like intelligent key and bluetooth. I can hook my iPod up to it and jam out to Weezer all I want. And the best part of it, I have air conditioning!! Woohoo!! I have never had a car with air conditioning during the summer. Give me a call if you want to see it or go for a ride or whatever. I still have to drive it like an old lady for a few hundred miles, but I promise you'll like it!

After we bought the car we were going to go to the Apple store and get Eric an iMac, but the dealership took forever so we went the next day. They were running a back to school promotion so I got a free iPod touch with the purchase of his laptop. Pretty neat? I thought so. It's been pretty fun to play with. The only sad thing is that it has no games, for now. Apparently, Apple will be launching an app shop with the launch of the new iPhone. Hopefully I can get some games... I love games!

Basically, we all got what we wanted in the end. Married friends, a new car, a new computer, and a new iPod! Being married isn't so bad after all.
